More Counseling for Texan Jurors
Posted in Jury on Wednesday June 03 2009 @ 1:53pm
Two bills increasing post-trial counseling for jurors are on their way to the governor of Texas to be signed.
The first would give county commissioners courts the option to offer a maximum of 10 hours of counseling to jurors in criminal trials involving graphic evidence or testimony. Jurors would have to request counseling within 180 days of dismissal.
The other would provide similar services for jurors in juvenile adjudications.
Texas pioneered juror counseling, and it appears they are continuing to blaze trails in this area.
